The Honorable John G. Heimann has been a Co-Founder and Senior Advisor since the creation of Ceres in 2019. Mr. Heimann passed away in January 2024.
Mr. Heimann and Mr. de Gunzburg developed Ceres together since 2015. Mr. Heimann worked with Mr. de Gunzburg for 20 years.
Prior to Ceres, Mr. Heimann was a Senior Advisor of Findercod since September 2004. At Findercod, the financial advisory business, following increasing banking regulations from 2010 until 2015 (Basel III, Dodd Frank Act and Volcker rules), Mr. Heimann and Mr. de Gunzburg developed an alternative source of financing to bank loans with long-term and larger size financing from American insurers.
From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Heimann was a senior advisor at Merrill Lynch & Co. and at AIB Bank.
In 1999, Mr. Heimann was the Chaiman and senior advisor at the Financial Stability Institute (FSI) of the Bank for International Settlements.
From 1991 to 1999, Mr. Heimann was Chairman of the Global Financial Institutions Group (FIG) and part of the office of the Chairman at Merrill Lynch. In that role, Mr. Heimann was the senior relationship manager with financial institutions of all kinds throughout the world and played an important role in developing Merrill Lynch’s policies and programs worldwide.
From 1984 to 1991, Mr. Heimann joined Merrill Lynch as Vice Chairman of Merrill Lynch Capital Markets and served as Chairman of the Executive Committee for Merrill Lynch Europe/Middle East from 1988 to 1990.
From 1981 to 1984, Mr. Heimann was a Deputy Chairman of Warburg, Paribas Becker Incorporated.
From 1977 to 1981, Mr. Heimann was also U.S. Comptroller of the Currency, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. During this period, he also served as Chairman of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal National Mortgage Association.
Between 1976 and 1977, Mr. Heimann was a commissioner of the New York State Division of Housing & Community Renewal.
From 1975 to 1976, Mr. Heimann was superintendent of Banks for New York State.
From 1967 to 1975, he was Senior Vice President and Director of E.M. Warburg Pincus & Co. which he co-founded.
From 1956 to 1966, Mr. Heimann was Vice President of Smith Barney & Company, Inc.
Mr. Heimann was a member of the Board of the French-American Foundation US, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Group of Thirty.
Mr. Heimann received a BA in Economics from Syracuse University.
